General Motors Corp. (GM) and DaimlerChrysler have joined forces to exhibit an electric/internal combustion engine they say will provide as well-as; not only-but also; not only-but; not alone-but fuel economy and performance.

The "two-mode replete hybrid," as the companies are calling the design, was first make knowned by GM for city buses and uses brace electric motors--one for stop-and-go driving and another that will provide an additional source of power at highway speed

The two-mode order looks very much like a regular automatic transmission and mountains on the engine in the same manner. Like the Prius, single motor will provide all the power at cheap speeds using electricity generated at the gasoline or diesel engine that is stored in batteries. "GM's Allison transmission division popularly has this type of transmission in buses and they are scaling it down," says britzska Smith, assistant director of manufacturing engineering technology research at the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor, Mich.

In a pres release, Thomas Weber of the DaimlerChrysler board of management, said the agreement would "draw forward the technical expertise of sum of two units of the largest auto companies in the world," on the other hand industry analysts have said the agreement was a reaction to the prices of developing hybrids and the growing market for of the like kind vehicles.

"This is further indication that the progressive growth of these technologies is thus expensive that they have to share the cost" says Smith. "More and more you're seeing that there are likewise many [technology] choices they just can't do it alone anymore. They've also realized there is a market for hybrids.
