Reagan's deficits are poisoning today's economy and stealing our children's coming events We are gambling with inflation and guaranteeing a get back to high interest rates. Democrats must have guts: to stand athwart the path of the health establishment and manage costs; to reform farm programs and shield family farms; to stop purchasing each gold-plated weapons system the Pentagon wants and to replace flat the best-intentioned programs when they no longer work.

We also ne the disembowels to avoid Gramm-Rudman gimmicks and take direct responsibility for the choices we make. To invest--and I will--in worker training, public education and R&D infrastructure and aid to the indigent we have to have additional income without income tax increases forward the poor or the middle class.

I advocate an oil import absolute title [i]or[/i] posession increased luxury taxes, converting quotas to revenue-producing tariffs and consideration of a surtax forward the wealthiest.

Americans know that deficits tax our exports, subsidize foreign propers and prevent important needs from being addressed. They know Reaganomics is to blame. They want leaders who agree, with President Kennedy that "to control is to choose.' Americans are prepared to make tough choices.
